About the company

SmartHeart Arabia is the Saudi joint venture localizing SHL Telemedicine's portable cardiac diagnostic technology. The company brings hospital-grade cardiac testing out of the hospital and into homes, workplaces and primary care across the Kingdom — addressing a population with a high and rising burden of cardiovascular disease.

The solution

SmartHeart is a portable, FDA-cleared 12-lead ECG device that a patient can use on themselves in under a minute, without clinical training. The reading transmits immediately to a monitoring center staffed around the clock by cardiologists, who return an interpretation within minutes.

The clinical significance is timing. Cardiac events are frequently preceded by symptoms that patients dismiss or cannot get assessed quickly enough. By making a diagnostic-quality ECG available at the moment symptoms occur — rather than days later in a clinic — the platform shortens the interval between symptom and diagnosis, which is where most preventable cardiac harm occurs.
